Is RDA100 better than whey?
Better at some things, not all.
RDA100 delivers 10 g of all nine essential amino acids, including 3 g of leucine, in under half the powder of any whey or plant protein we checked — and at about half the price per 10 g of EAAs of the next cheapest product. It has no dairy ingredients and it's a lemon drink, not a shake. Whey gives you more total protein per scoop and has decades of long-term training evidence. No one has yet run a head-to-head muscle trial of RDA100 against whey, so we don't claim an overall winner. See the full scoreboard.
How do I take it?
One 11.58 g scoop in a glass of water.
One scoop gives you 10 g of essential amino acids. Follow the daily usage printed on the pack, and keep eating protein from food — RDA100 is a supplement, not a meal replacement. A 300 g pack holds about 25 scoops.
Can 10 g of RDA100 replace 25 or 40 g of protein?
There is no universal swap ratio.
Some short-term studies in older adults found small leucine-enriched EAA doses kept pace with much larger whey doses (S03, S04). Another found whey beat its own matched EAA fraction (S16). Hours of muscle protein synthesis are not months of nutrition, so keep eating enough protein from food.
Is the "30 g of protein at a time" limit real?
No — and we won't use it against whey.
A 2023 study found 100 g of protein after exercise produced a larger and longer anabolic response than 25 g (S22). Our case for RDA100 is compactness, composition and price — not a fake ceiling on whey.
Free amino acids get into the blood faster — doesn't that mean more muscle?
Not automatically.
In one trial, 76% of ingested phenylalanine appeared in blood from free amino acids versus 59% from milk protein, yet muscle protein synthesis was not significantly different (S02). Absorption, blood levels, muscle synthesis and long-term growth are separate questions.
Why all nine EAAs instead of just BCAAs or leucine?
Leucine is the signal; the other eight are the building material.
BCAAs cover 3 of the 9 essential amino acids. They do raise short-term muscle protein synthesis (S21), but leucine alone for three months did nothing for muscle mass or strength in older men (S20). RDA100 supplies all nine. That is a composition difference; it isn't, by itself, proof of more growth.
Is 3 g of leucine a guaranteed "growth switch"?
No — it's a formulation target.
In one study, a higher-leucine EAA dose worked in older adults when a lower-leucine one didn't (S06). That is why RDA100 is built around 3 g. It is not a universal threshold, and people respond differently.
Is RDA100 better for people over 40?
Older adults are where the research concentrates — but no birthday threshold exists.
Most compact-EAA studies enrolled people over 60, with mixed long-term results (S05, S23). Resistance training matters most at every age. Explore by age.
Does plant protein build less muscle?
Not when you eat enough of it.
Vegan and omnivore groups gained the same leg lean mass over 12 weeks of training when protein intake was matched (S18). RDA100 is vegan-formulated too; we compare specific products, not stereotypes.
Is it easier to digest than whey?
Untested for RDA100.
The formula has no dairy ingredients, which matters if lactose or dairy doesn't agree with you. Lactose intolerance and milk-protein allergy are different conditions (NIDDK). We don't promise "no bloating" — that needs a tolerance study, which we plan to run and publish.
Is it safe for everyone?
No product is.
RDA100 contains phenylalanine, so people with phenylketonuria must avoid it without specialist advice (MedlinePlus). If you have kidney or liver disease, are pregnant, or take medication, ask your doctor first. Not for children.
How much muscle will I gain?
Anyone who gives you a number is guessing.
Across 49 trials, protein supplements added about 0.30 kg of lean mass on average alongside training (S19). Training, total diet and sleep drive the rest. A direct long-term RDA100 trial would be needed for any product-specific figure.
Who runs these comparisons?
We do, and we say so.
RDA100 runs and funds the benchmark. That's why every number links to its source, RDA100's own amino-acid values are labelled as formula targets until our batch lab report is published, and the studies that cut against us sit next to the ones that help.
